Preparing for your Session

Thank you so much for selecting Creekstone Photography as the photographic professionals for your senior portraits. We are honored to work with you for a unique and memorable session to achieve portraiture beyond your expectations.

A few tips to help you prepare for the best session ever:

We shoot at a fairly rapid pace, so it can make for a long day..

Be sure to get plenty of rest the night before.

There are likely sessions scheduled after your session, so it is extremely important to show up on time.

Best Friend, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Favorite Aunt are all fine to be at your photographic session. Cameras, camcorders, or recording devices of any kind are not permitted at your photographic session. Please leave all camera equipment at home.

Consider professional hair and makeup services for this special shoot. Professionals are skilled at making sure makeup is perfect and natural under the brighter than normal conditions used in photographs, and a stylist can take the worries out of hair preparation before your session.

For outfits, vary your color choices, patterns and necklines, and select clothing that fits well and is flattering. We will probably be shooting 4-6 different outfits, so you should plan on bringing around 10 different outfits. We can help you choose the ones that will work with the location and will best showcase your style.

Please make sure everything starts out pressed and shows up on a hanger. If we are starting out on location, show up in confortable clothes. You can change into your first outfit on-site.

Don’t forget accessories (necklaces, rings, bracelets) down to your shoes, which make an outfit look complete and help your images truly stand out. Dwell on the details, the little things make you appear more polished and model ready. Manicures are fabulous. Your hands will show in the photos, so make sure they are clean and nicely groomed with no chipped polish (retouching images to fix polish chips is difficult and costly). A little color is fine, but avoid being overly tan, which makes faces look dryer and wider. (tan lines are difficult to retouch.)

If there is more than a 60% chance of rain or a heat index of more than 95 degrees there is a strong possibility the session may be postponed to later in the week. However, You should consider everything a go, unless you get a phone call canceling the session.

Your custom viewing and ordering session will happen about two weeks after the session. Because your ordering will be completed at this session, all persons who wish to place an order (or have input into your family’s order) are encouraged to attend.

If you have any questions prior to your session, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
